Software Account Executive

DZone is hiring an Account Executive to join our Software Team! In this role, you'll be part of a small team helping make a big impact! You will be directly responsible for helping hit quarterly revenue targets, generating pipeline through outbound phone and email efforts, handling inbound lead qualification, and forging trusted advisor relationships with prospective AnswerHub customers at all levels. You must be excited about developing a sales plan to strategically target, grow, and expand accounts within territories and/or industry segments, and must be comfortable navigating large organizations and selling to multiple decision makers, including the C Suite.
What You'll Do:
- Own the entire sales cycle from initial customer engagement to closed sales including:
- Prospecting for potential customers using various direct methods such as calling and face to face meetings, and indirect methods such as networking
- Qualifying prospects against company criteria for ideal customers and sales
- Present products to prospective clients (demo) based on an evaluation of their use case that showcases the value of the product for their environment
- Consulting with prospect sabout business challenges and requirements, as well as the range of options and cost benefits of each
- Drafting and delivering proposals and negotiating contracts
- Maintain a high level of relevant domain knowledge in order to have meaningful conversations with prospects
- Report weekly on sales activity through our Salesforce dashboard as well as provide monthly and quarterly sales forecasts
- Keep detailed notes on prospect and customer interactions
- Collaborate with sales and marketing leaders to identify ways to decrease the sales cycle, enhance sales, and improve company brand and reputation
- Provide feedback to company management on market trends, competitive threats, unmet needs, and opportunities to deliver greater value to customers by extending company offerings
- Identify sales support requirements and work with marketing to develop improve sales tools
What We Look For:
- At least two years of prior software sales experience (including closing)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to build relationships, negotiate, and problem-solve during customer interactions
- Comfort with contract negotiation and technology/software products
- A positive attitude and consistent work ethic
- Relentless drive to maximize performance-based compensation
- Undergraduate degree preferred
Preferred but not required:
- Knowledge management experience
- Salesforce.com experience
