Director of Media Marketing

As Director of Media Marketing at DZone, you will own the creation and execution of process-driven marketing strategies to support the growth of DZone’s online community across all of our key stakeholders: practicing software developers, contributing tech writers as well as our sponsors and advertisers.

In this role you will provide direction, guidance, and leadership to our media marketing team, overseeing all aspects of marketing for all segments within the DZone media business. The ideal candidate brings a knowledge of the world of software developers, a passion for technology and an ability to implement processes and systems to help scale our rapidly growing media business. You will partner with the media management team that consists of product management, sales, editorial and production to deliver on your agreed goals. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement media focused brand/messaging strategy and top-level marketing plan thereby increasing brand awareness of DZone.com in targeted buyer and partner segments
  • Lead our talented team of marketing specialists, guiding them to be data-driven, and setting them up for success in supporting their functional responsibilities and target segments
  • Devise strategies to grow engagement within our audience and amongst our valued contributors through resourceful campaign creation, value proposition packaging, and scalable marketing programs
  • Partner with Product Management and Sales teams to define marketing materials and programs and monitor regularly to ensure performance and alignment with market expectations
  • Partner with Editorial Team to create targeted content that drives engagement in key stakeholder segments
  • Devise and manage budget allocation and performance against agreed KPIs and company goals
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales teams to build awareness across the technology vendor ecosystems as well as grow inbound lead streams and create strategies for nurturing targeted leads to sales-ready prospects
  • Partner with Director of Software Marketing to devise and implement corporate brand strategy, including messaging, events, news, and PR

Requirements:

  • 7+ years’ experience managing marketing strategies in a technology related industry, with at least 3 years of team management/leadership
  • Prior experience in Developer Marketing is preferable
  • A passion for marketing (especially digital marketing) and experience with method-driven marketing
  • Strong analytical problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS (JavaScript a plus)
  • Knowledge of SQL databases and comfort running queries
  • Prior experience with MailChimp, Salesforce, JIRA, Google Analytics, and HubSpot
  • Experience with marketing automation tools and marketing enterprise software preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on marketing and business communications
  • Graduate degree in marketing related field a plus
