Editor In Chief

As Editor In Chief at DZone, you will own the creation and execution of a holistic multimedia content strategy for our media entity, DZone.com.  

In this role you will provide direction, guidance, and leadership to our content team, overseeing all aspects of our contributory (non-paid) content delivery model. The ideal candidate brings a knowledge of the world of software developers, a passion for building relationships with authors and publishers, and an ability to craft and drive a deterministic multimedia content strategy to help engage and grow our community and contributor stakeholder groups. You will partner with the media management team, which consists of product management, sales, marketing, and production, to deliver on your agreed goals. Responsibilities

  • Craft and manage DZone.com’s next generation editorial vision and strategy, with an emphasis on introducing multimedia content types
  • Leverage your strong understanding of all aspects of content strategy, from analysis and strategic planning to the ongoing creation, maintenance, and governance of content in order to achieve measurable business objectives
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for customers seeking best practices on how to leverage digital and interactive media content on DZone.com
  • Lead and manage a high performing contributory content organization, including recruiting and developing editorial talent, establishing clear goals, coaching, and recognition
  • Drive content ideas to delivery through all channels (internal and external) with a focus on producing quality content that is visually compelling and strongly resonates with our audience of developers, architects, and development team leads

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, creative writing, marketing or related field
  • 7-10 years of relevant, progressive experience in multimedia content strategy and/or editorial management
  • Prior experience producing multimedia content for developers and technical audiences preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience managing content, editorial, or publications teams, including coaching and mentoring and career development
  • Proven experience formulating data-driven content strategies and measuring impact
  • Demonstrated experience creating engaging messaging for diverse target audiences
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Proven ability to creatively work with limited resources
  • Ability to consider multiple audiences, manage concurrent projects, and prioritize the work based on return on investment
